CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE.

It’s taken us a bit longer than anticipated, but our 50/50 Project is now up and running. We’ve produced a series of poster and prints. Half of the profits will go to The Passage, to help them end homelessness. If you want to check what we’ve done please feel free to check our Etsy shop:...
50/50 CHRISTMAS

50/50 CHRISTMAS

7 years ago (before we started Designed By Good People), Lee and I were getting married just a few days before Christmas in Suchitoto, El Salvador. During the wedding service it is traditional (in El Salvador) for the man to give the woman 25 coins (arras) and say something along the lines of ‘these arras represent that I’ll care for you and will make sure I provide our family with everything we’ll need’. Traditionally the woman would receive them and say she’ll look after them and make sure to administrate them carefully. The tradition has changed, during our wedding I also gave Lee the arras and said to him the same words he said to me. We were told a good marriage should be 50/50, equally sharing responsibilities, chores and laughter. Making sure we were equals in the relationship. We liked this. And this has been the inspiration for our next project. In 2015 we’ll launch 50/50, we’ll design crafted products with a message and half of the profits will go to a good cause, the 1st  prototype is done and soon we’ll be ready to start production (more details to follow soon). At the time of the year where we’re reminded of the importance of sharing with others, we thought it’d be good to share this news with you. We can only do this because of the support you’ve given us, so thank you. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you again next year. Ariana & Lee, Designed By Good...
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE 2013

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE 2013

Every Christmas we try to live up to our name by creating a Christmas Story rather than a Christmas card. For our first Christmas we bought gifts through Oxfam, buying mosquito nets, medicine, livestock and school books etc based on the 12 days of Christmas. The second Christmas we bought 70 Children’s books for our local library that we helped the local community save from closure. Last year we invested $1600 in Kiva which we have reinvested as soon as it’s paid back, so that we have now loaned almost $3000, with over 42 loans to people in 22 countries. This year we are donating £1000 to War Child rather than printing a Christmas card. Hopefully we can spread a little goodwill this Christmas by helping children in areas of conflict get one of the greatest gifts anyone can have. A childhood, an education and freedom. We can only do this because of the support we have been given throughout the year. We thank you all. John and Yoko said ‘War is Over If You Want It’. We do. Have a very Merry Christmas, Designed By Good...
A VERY, VERY, MERRY CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE 2012

A VERY, VERY, MERRY CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE 2012

We don’t give out Christmas cards. But every year we have a Christmas story. This is our third year. In the first year we bought gifts through Oxfam, buying mosquito nets, medicine, livestock and school books etc based on the 12 days of Christmas. Last year we bought 70 Children’s books for our local library that we helped the local community save from closure. This year we are investing $1600 (£1000) in Kiva, helping: • Maze in Cameroon to buy material to make dresses to sell. • Maria Ester in El Salvador who looks after a disabled senior citizen, buy supplies for the house she is building. • The Furaha Group in Kenya to buy 1/2 acre of land to grow maize and sorghum to cultivate as part of the One Acre Fund. • Don Bosco Group to help with small trading projects and as a deposit on a plot of land. • Iris in El Salvador buy supplies and a new grill for her business making and selling tortillas. • Rakhima in Tajistan buy a sewing machine to make clothes to sell. • Monica in Costa Rica to buy livestock and feed for their farm to help send their son to school. • Maria Margarita in El Salvador renovate her home for her family which she will pay back with the proceeds from her pupusa business. • Carmen, a bricklayer in Bolivia to build her own home. • Maria Elena in El Salvador buy building supplies so her children have their own bedrooms. • Eddy in Peru fix his motortaxi and buy fabric to make clothing. It’s rather...

A MERRY CHRISTMAS, DESIGNED BY GOOD PEOPLE 2010

We would like to wish all our friends, supporters, mentors and clients, past, present and future a very Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year. Rather than printing a card, we thought we would use the money to make a difference. So no gold rings, no Partridges in a pear tree or 12 maids a milking, but definitely the spirit of Christmas. Thankyou. It’s been a wonderful year....
