On 9 January 1863 the world’s first underground train pulled out of Paddington station to make its 3.5 mile maiden journey to Farringdon. Today the tube is 150 years old. We love what Google have done to celebrate it. Very cute.

We are huge fans of the design of the Underground. From Frank Pick’s incredible design stewardship to Charles Holden’s amazing underground stations and Harry Beck’s wonderful map, it’s a great iconic brand. We hope to take some elements from the undergrounds rich design heritage in a few areas we are working on in London for town centre branding.

As ever the London Transport Museum is worth a visit, it’s been brilliant inspiration for us. Inspiration for a job that we will show on this blog shortly…
